Delete your account and data
Last updated: 09/29/2026
You can have your Near One account deleted at any time – with the app or without it. This page explains how to do that, what gets deleted, and what remains and why.
1. How to request deletion
In the app: Tap “Options” at the bottom and choose “Delete account”. The deletion happens right away – there is no waiting period and no way to undo it.
Without the app: Send an email to support@laflax.com with the subject “Delete account”. Please send it from the email address you registered with – that is how we know the request really comes from you. If it arrives from a different address we will ask you to confirm; otherwise anyone at all could have someone else’s account deleted.
We confirm receipt and delete the account together with all associated data within 30 days. There is no fee, and you do not need to create an account or install the app to do this.
2. Important: an active subscription does not end by itself
The subscription does not run with us, it runs with Apple or with Google. If you only delete your account, it keeps running there – and keeps being charged to your account even though you no longer use the app. We cannot cancel it for you; only the store you took it out with can.
So cancel the subscription first, and only then delete the account:
- iPhone and iPad: Settings → your name at the top → “Subscriptions” → “Near One” → “Cancel Subscription”.
- Android: open the Google Play app → tap your profile picture → “Payments and subscriptions” → “Subscriptions” → “Near One” → “Cancel subscription”.
After cancelling, the areas stay open until the end of the period you have already paid for. If you have already deleted the account and forgot to cancel, cancel the subscription in the store anyway – that works without the app as well.
3. What gets deleted
It is not just access that is removed, but the record itself. No blocked or deactivated account is left behind.
- your account and your profile: user name, email address, first name, role, phone number and region
- your appointments, your medication plan and the care log entries in your own area
- your messages in the family chat
- your posts in the memory gallery – including the uploaded image files themselves, not just the entry pointing to them
- the links to relatives and friends, and any invitations still open
- game scores, duels and your answers to TV polls
- the push tokens of your devices, so that no more notifications arrive
- the subscription status and the token balance of your family circle
- if you switched on the extra sign-in protection: the authenticator secret and the backup codes
4. What remains – and why
Entries you created for someone else. If, as a relative, you entered a doctor’s appointment, a photo or a log note in someone else’s area, that entry stays and is handed over to that person. The link to your account disappears in the process. The reason: it is their data, in their area, and they did not agree to your deletion – otherwise your departure would take away their doctor’s appointment and the family photos. Everything in your own area, by contrast, is removed completely.
The accounts of the others in the family circle. They stay; only the link to you is removed. Nobody loses access to their own data because you delete yours.
One entry in the security log, 7 years. It records that an account was deleted on that day and is our proof that we actually carried out your deletion. It holds an internal identifier plus checksums of the IP address and the device identifier – no name, no email address and no content. It cannot be used to reconstruct who you were.
Records of purchases. For every purchase reported to us by the App Store or Google Play, a record with the event identifier, the product and the time remains. It contains no payment data: Apple and Google handle the payment, and we never get to see your credit card or billing address.
The backup, at most 30 days. We back up the database daily and keep each backup for 30 days. A single account cannot be removed from a backup that has already been made; after 30 days at the latest it is overwritten and your data is gone there too. A backup is restored only after an outage.
